Cape Breton's Strait-Highlands region is taking an active stand against climate change thanks, in part, to the government of Nova Scotia. Cape Breton wind energy producer says NSP blew its plans

Black River Wind Limited of Mabou announced yesterday that it’s $14 million dollar, 6 megawatt, 5 turbine wind project that took three years and cost approximately $300,000 to develop had been cancelled in the late summer of this year by Nova Scotia Power Inc. Black River Wind President Neal Livingston said his company was prepared to build the project in the autumn of 2006 and early 2007, as scheduled in signed contracts. The project would have provided electricity for several thousand homes through the sale of power to NSPI.
