Maritime Tidal Energy forms UK partnership

A Nova Scotia company has joined forces with one from Britain in hopes of building the largest water turbines in the world in the Bay of Fundy. But first they've got to beat out the competition for government approval. Nova Scotia-based Maritime Tidal Energy Corporation announced Thursday it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Marine Current Turbines to develop tidal projects in the Bay of Fundy.

Barry Zwicker, president of Scotian Windfields, told the legislature’s resource committee Tuesday that government needs to send out a strong message about its commitment to renewable energy.
