Atlantic Canada’s largest wind farm is up for sale.
Creststreet Power and Income Fund LP of Toronto, a significant owner of the $50-million wind farm in Pubnico Point, Yarmouth County, wants to sell its share of the development in response to the federal government’s decision to eliminate the tax benefits of trusts.

Nova Scotia municipalities now have more power to mould plans for wind turbines in their communities, the Energy Department says. Instead of blanket rules for the entire province, each area applying for wind-energy projects can now create specific bylaws based on models taken from across Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

Nova Scotia Power is seeking approval from regulators to spend up to $2.6 million this year on energy conservation programs. The utility filed its proposed plans for conservation and energy-efficiency programs with the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board on Thursday.

Conserve Nova Scotia is funding an update of the Solar Shelter Manual. This is a big revision, including the addition of colour and black-and-white photos of real homes (instead of all drawings), expanded and updated sections and six or eight case studies of various types of/approaches to solar homes.

Council to look at viability of wind power for treatment plant |

Council has agreed to pay the town’s share of a wind energy study, as it explores the viability of a wind turbine to power a new wastewater treatment plant. Port Hawkesbury CAO Colin MacDonald said Wednesday council will contribute $26,485, applying to the Nova Scotia government, which has already indicated its support, and Federation of Canadian Municipalities, which has a fund for green projects, to cover the rest of the estimated $80,000 cost of the study.
