DIGBY -- The environmental consultants 4Site Group, which has offices in Halifax and Yarmouth, has been awarded a contract to develop a wind turbine bylaw for the Municipality of Digby. The bylaw will deal with issues regarding the placement of turbines, and will define acceptable location, minimum distance between windmills and buildings, and the minimum acceptable setback from the road

TRURO - Winds flowing across the top of Nuttby Mountain are to be harnessed and converted into electrical energy by the end of next year. Premier Rodney MacDonald and Nova Scotia Power announced an agreement that will see the utility purchasing 45 mega watts of energy per year - enough to provide power to approximately 15,000 homes - from a wind farm to be established near the top of Nuttby Mountain.

SYDNEY — Richmond County’s warden, concerned a proposed wind turbine project across the county line in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality could adversely affect the environment, will meet with provincial environment officials to forcefully argue for a comprehensive study of the project.
